John Cho laments lost Tarantino Star Trek film

John Cho, who portrayed Sulu in the Kelvin timeline Star Trek films, recently expressed significant regret that Quentin Tarantino's R-rated Star Trek movie never came to fruition. Cho revealed he entered a "deep depression" over the unmade project, emphasizing his personal hope to star in a film directed by Tarantino. The proposed movie was rumored to be set on a planet inspired by the Prohibition era and its criminal underworld.

While acknowledging that some Star Trek fans questioned Tarantino's suitability for the franchise, Cho admitted he understood these reservations. Despite this, he remained hopeful that Paramount would approve the unique pitch. However, Paramount has now redirected its efforts, moving away from the Kelvin timeline and focusing on a future-set Star Trek film featuring a completely new cast.

Quentin Tarantino's directorial future also remains uncertain. He had previously indicated his final film would be "The Movie Critic," but has since withdrawn from that project. He also backed out of directing a Netflix movie based on his "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" character Cliff Booth, demonstrating his characteristic unpredictability.
