Comedian and artist Joe Lycett has unveiled his first major solo art exhibition, 'Everything Must Go,' at the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. This collection, which Lycett describes as a vibrant 'neon graveyard,' explores themes of grief and remembrance, inspired by subjects and items no longer present.
The exhibition features a diverse range of works, including a striking mixed-media sculpture of a woolly mammoth named Martin, complete with ceramic yellow toenails and a latex tongue. Other pieces draw inspiration from personal reflections and the memory of deceased friends.
Lycett's work also includes depictions of his favourite old phone, Ozzy Osbourne after his final concert, and collaborations with other artists, including his mother. He emphasized the importance of the exhibition being held in his hometown, Birmingham.
'Everything Must Go' is open until February 21, 2027. Lycett aims to inspire visitors to discover their own creative potential, encouraging them to try making art themselves, regardless of their perceived skill level.
Following this exhibition, Lycett is set to launch a new live TV show, 'The Lycett Arms,' on Channel 4 later this year and is planning a tour for 2027.
