Hulu has greenlit a new adult animated comedy series, "Deano," helmed by Joe Brumm, the creative force behind the beloved children's show "Bluey." Brumm will serve as executive producer for the half-hour series, which began as a web series and is written by Australian creators Dean Thomas and David Ferrier.
The comedy focuses on Deano, an 8-year-old boy described as having a heart of gold, who navigates the world with a fearless outlook. His friendships, particularly with his timid, wealthy best mate Kit, highlight a blend of modern family chaos and biting satire.
Produced by BBC Studios, 20th Television Animation, and Hooligan Animation, "Deano" will be distributed globally. It is set to premiere on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ in the U.S., and internationally on Disney+. In the U.K., it will also air on BBC iPlayer and BBC One.
This venture represents Brumm's first adult animated comedy, adding to Hulu's slate of adult animated programming. The series promises to be smart, character-driven, and irreverent.
