Jodie Foster's Sister Was Her 'Taxi Driver' Body Double
17 Feb
Summary
- Jodie Foster's sister Connie served as her body double in Taxi Driver.
- The arrangement was made due to Board of Education concerns about child actors.
- Foster's mother suggested Connie double for Jodie in suggestive scenes.

Jodie Foster recently revealed a unique family involvement in her early acting career. Her sister, Connie, served as her body double for several scenes in the 1976 film Taxi Driver.
This arrangement came about because the Board of Education had begun scrutinizing the roles of child actors. They expressed concerns that young performers might become confused about their own identities if they played adult characters. Consequently, work permits for Jodie, who was 12 at the time, required a double for any sexually suggestive content.
Their mother proposed that Connie, being of similar build and over 18, fulfill this role. Jodie recalled that the scenes, including one where her character strips below the shoulders, did not strike her as particularly suggestive. Connie later commented that seeing Jodie on set made her look "all grown up."
