J.Lo Ditches Damsel Role for Boss in New Rom-Com

Jennifer Lopez is taking on a new kind of role in the upcoming rom-com 'Office Romance.' She portrays a powerful chief executive, a significant shift from the 'working girl' characters she has often played.

This new film, co-written by Brett Goldstein and Joe Kelly, was crafted specifically for Lopez to embody a successful and happy boss. Goldstein noted that previous roles for Lopez in rom-coms often depicted her as 'lower status' and 'aspiring for something.'

Directed by Ol Parker, 'Office Romance' also features Jodi Whitaker, Betty Gilpin, Amy Sedaris, Tony Hale, and Bradley Whitford. Edward James Olmos reunites with Lopez, playing her father, a role similar to their collaboration in 'Selena.'

According to Parker, the genre provides viewers with something 'reassuring and happy' during difficult times. The film is set to be released on Netflix on Friday, June 5.
