28 Jul
Summary
- New album 'Wowed Out' uses early 2010s film score material.
- Album title reflects sensory overload of modern life.
- Jim James embarks on solo tour starting Aug. 28.

Jim James is set to release his fifth solo album, 'Wowed Out,' on Aug. 28. The album draws inspiration from music he co-created with composer Brian Reitzell for film scores over a decade ago. James found these early 2010s recordings became the foundation for this new collection of soulful, psychedelic music.
The title 'Wowed Out' encapsulates the feeling of sensory overload in today's world. James aimed for a sound that journeyed rewardingly, akin to Alice Coltrane's spiritual recordings, avoiding overt grand finales. The album's first single, 'Come Again,' released last month, is a psychedelic meditation on finding beauty amidst chaos.
Following the album's release, James will perform a solo acoustic set at Park City, Utah's Song Summit on Aug. 28. A solo headline concert tour commences on Nov. 28 in Louisville, Kentucky, with additional dates across the U.S.
