A vibrant Dahare Tusu procession, celebrating Jharkhand's rich cultural heritage, recently traversed the streets of Jamshedpur and Gamharia. This fifth edition saw scores of girls adorned in traditional attire enthusiastically dancing to the popular Tusu parab tunes, a significant harvest festival.
The procession featured the rhythmic beats of traditional 'dhol-nagara' and 'singh baja', enhanced by the rustic melodies of banam and bamboo flutes. The event, organized by the Chotanagpur Kudmi Kala Sanskriti Manch and Brihad Jharkhand Kala Sanskriti Manch, aimed to revitalize the cultural heritage of Chotanagpur.
Beyond cultural preservation, the procession served as a platform to advocate for the Kudmi community's recognition. Organizers expressed their intent to urge the government to grant Scheduled Tribe (ST) status to the Kudmi community and include the Kudmali language in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution.
