Kennedy Family Feud Over TV Show
14 Feb
Summary
- Showrunner defends not consulting Kennedy family.
- JFK Jr.'s nephew calls show 'grotesque'.
- Ryan Murphy questions family's criticism of series.

Showrunner Connor Hines has defended his decision not to involve the Kennedy family in the creation of the television series "Love Story," which dramatizes the lives of John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette. Hines explained that maintaining distance from the subjects allows for greater objectivity in storytelling.
This approach has led to public backlash from the prominent Kennedy family. Jack Schlossberg, JFK Jr.'s nephew, expressed his strong disapproval in July 2025, labeling the show "grotesque" and urging the creators to donate to the John F. Kennedy Library. He confirmed the family was not consulted.
Producer Ryan Murphy responded to the criticism by suggesting it was unusual for Schlossberg to object to a portrayal of a relative he barely remembers. Schlossberg countered that he does remember his uncle and found Murphy's comments, and the actor's portrayal, to be the true oddities of the situation.
