In December 1995, John F. Kennedy Jr. and Princess Diana met secretly at New York City's Carlyle Hotel. JFK Jr. had invited Diana to discuss her potentially gracing the cover of his political lifestyle magazine, George.
Their assistants, RoseMarie Terenzio and Patrick Jephson, meticulously planned the meeting to ensure privacy. Diana politely declined the cover proposal but left the door open for future consideration, expressing a connection to JFK Jr.'s struggles with intense media attention.
Diana later sent JFK Jr. a letter in February 1997, again turning down the cover but highlighting their shared experiences with overwhelming press coverage. She hoped the media would leave him and his wife, Carolyn Bessette, alone.
Tragically, Diana died in a car crash on August 31, 1997. Less than two years later, JFK Jr. and Bessette perished in a plane crash on July 16, 1999, cutting short their lives after this notable private encounter.
