Jessie Buckley: Motherhood is a 'Gift'

Hollywood star Jessie Buckley, originally from Co Kerry, has spoken about the immense joy and perspective that motherhood has brought into her life following the birth of her daughter last year. She described the experience as an "absolute gift," noting how it grounds her and allows her to recognize herself in both her professional and maternal roles.

Buckley acknowledged that becoming a new mother is demanding, describing it as "no joke" and a process where she, too, is "being born into a new identity." Despite the tiredness and occasional disorientation, she feels more alert to her life and her daughter's. She will be accompanied by her family when attending the Academy Awards next month.

In her career, the acclaimed actress, who recently won a Bafta for her role as Agnes Hathaway in "Hamnet," is set to star as the Bride of Frankenstein in Maggie Gyllenhaal's upcoming horror film, "The Bride!". The film, inspired by the 1935 classic, also features Christian Bale as Frankenstein. "The Bride!" is scheduled for release in cinemas in Ireland and the UK on March 6.
