Jennifer Lopez Shines in First-Ever Movie Musical 'Kiss of the Spider Woman'

In a highly anticipated move, Jennifer Lopez is set to showcase her musical theater talents in the upcoming film "Kiss of the Spider Woman," premiering in theaters on October 10, 2025. The movie, directed by Bill Condon, marks the first-ever movie musical for the 56-year-old triple threat.

Lopez stars as Ingrid Luna, a movie-within-a-movie star, and the role seems tailor-made for the acclaimed performer. A recently released clip from the film offers a glimpse of Lopez's stellar singing and dancing abilities, as she tangoes with co-star Tonatiuh, 30, in a lavish ballroom setting. Draped in a stunning gold gown, Lopez croons the John Kander and Fred Ebb song "Her Name Is Aurora" from the original Broadway musical.

The sequence is a Technicolor fantasy dreamed up by Tonatiuh's character, a queer, Argentine political prisoner named Luis Molina, who is narrating scenes from Ingrid's fictional movie "Kiss of the Spider Woman" to his cellmate, Diego Luna's revolutionary Valentin Arregui. As Valentin dismisses the musical fantasy as "ridiculous," Luis insists that he see the scene the way he imagines it, with a suavely dressed Luna emerging on the ballroom floor and making eyes at an intrigued Lopez.

"Kiss of the Spider Woman" is a reimagining of the 1993 stage musical, which first starred Chita Rivera on Broadway. The film also draws inspiration from the 1985 movie adaptation starring William Hurt, Raul Julia, and Sônia Braga, all of which are based on Argentine writer Manuel Puig's 1976 novel.
