BLACKPINK's Jennie Debuts Solo Track for Netflix Film

K-pop superstar JENNIE of BLACKPINK has unveiled her new solo song, "Someone to Hold." This vibrant track is featured on the official soundtrack for the forthcoming Netflix animated film, "Steps."

"Someone to Hold" is described as a melodic neo-disco production, characterized by its use of strings, prominent basslines, and layered vocals from JENNIE. The song was written and produced by Justin Tranter, who also contributed three other original songs to the film's soundtrack and called "Someone to Hold" "pure danceable joy inspired by vintage organic dance pop."

The film "Steps" reimagines the classic Cinderella narrative. In this version, Cinderella's stepsisters, Lilith and Margot, seize control of the Royal Ball after stealing the Fairy Godmother's magic wand. Their plan is further complicated by the arrival of Priscilla, a "villainous schemer" who usurts the throne. Facing the consequences of their actions, Lilith must then team up with Cinderella to embark on an adventure.

Directors Alyce Tzue and John Ripa expressed their enthusiasm for JENNIE's contribution, noting that "Someone To Hold" perfectly embodies the sisterhood of the characters Lilith, Cinderella, and Margot, providing a boost of energy and positivity. The animated film "Steps" and its companion soundtrack, featuring "Someone to Hold," are scheduled to premiere on Netflix on November 20th, 2026.
