Jeff Garlin recently shared details about the profound mental health struggles he endured during his departure from 'The Goldbergs.' The actor described experiencing a "nervous breakdown" that led to suicidal thoughts, prompting him to reach out to his 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' co-star Susie Essman for help.
Essman, with Garlin's ex-wife and girlfriend, orchestrated his admission to a treatment facility. Garlin chose a center in Cincinnati over one in Beverly Hills, where he learned dialectical behavior therapy and began his recovery. He stated he was "no longer suicidal" after his treatment.
Following his departure from 'The Goldbergs' in 2021 after an HR investigation into his on-set behavior, Garlin expressed feeling unsupported by Sony. He has since been undergoing therapy and medication for bipolar disorder, noting that he is "just now feeling really good" five years later.
