Jeetendra recounted that he had to personally convince filmmaker Subodh Mukherjee to cast Hema Malini. He even went to her hotel, spoke with her mother, and arranged for Hema to meet Mukherjee, leading to her signing the film. He then requested a veteran director to release his dates.
However, Jeetendra was later surprised to read in the newspaper that Hema Malini had been cast opposite Shashi Kapoor instead. He expressed his feelings of being removed from the project without notice. Despite this setback, Jeetendra and Hema Malini went on to star in numerous successful films together.
