12 Feb
Summary
- Actress Jayne Trcka died of hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.
- Her death was ruled an accident and complicated by a left femoral fracture.
- Chronic ethanol use was listed as a contributing factor in her passing.

Two months following the discovery of her body in San Diego, California, the cause of death for actress and fitness personality Jayne Trcka has been disclosed. The San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office revealed that Trcka succumbed to hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. This underlying condition was compounded by a left femoral fracture.
The medical examiner officially ruled Trcka's death, which occurred on December 12, 2025, at the age of 62, as accidental. Hypertensive heart disease stems from prolonged, untreated high blood pressure, which can thicken the heart muscle. Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease involves plaque buildup in arteries, encompassing conditions like heart attacks and strokes.
A contributing factor noted in Trcka's death was chronic ethanol use. Her son confirmed her passing to media outlets on January 5, 2026, stating he was unaware of any prior medical issues. A friend had discovered Trcka unresponsive in her kitchen after she failed to respond to calls a few days prior to her death.
Trcka, who grew up in Minnesota and excelled in gymnastics, moved to San Diego in the mid-1980s and pursued weight training, eventually competing nationally. She gained recognition for her role as Miss Mann in the 2000 parody film 'Scary Movie,' which led to other acting opportunities, including a guest spot on 'Whose Line Is It Anyway?' and an appearance in Lady Gaga's 'Telephone' music video in 2010.
