Jared Leto's Digital Character Ares Navigates Humanity in Latest Tron Installment

In a few weeks, the Tron franchise will be rebooted with the release of a new film, Tron: Ares. The story follows an AI program named Ares who is sent from the digital world to the real world on a mission to retrieve a coveted code for "permanence" that was originally designed by legendary Kevin Flynn.

Ares' target is Encom CEO Eve Kim, who is desperate to take AI to the next level by obtaining this code. Hot on Ares' trail is Julian Dillinger, whose grandfather was the villain in the original Tron film. Julian tries to hack into Encom to send Ares to destroy Eve and get the prize, but Ares discovers that humanity isn't as bad as he thought and starts to transform as he interacts with Eve and others.

The film explores the budding relationship between AI and humans, as Ares navigates the real world and grapples with questions about what it means for mankind. While the script misses some opportunities to deeply explore these themes, the film is still an entertaining and visually dazzling techno-thriller that features strong performances from Jared Leto as Ares and Greta Lee as Eve.
