In the weeks leading up to Halloween 2025, musician Janelle Monáe is bringing their love for the holiday to life with Wonderween, a month-long arts festival in Los Angeles. Monáe, who describes Halloween as a "universe" of creativity, has curated a diverse lineup of events that kicked off on September 26th with Monáe Manor, a haunted attraction inside the LA Haunted Hayride.
The Wonderween celebrations continue throughout October, including a screening of the film The Craft on October 11th, where Monáe will introduce the movie and spin a DJ set. Later this month, Monáe will star as Sally in a live performance of The Nightmare Before Christmas at the Hollywood Bowl. The festivities culminate on October 30th with a "HalloQueen" Vampire Beach party on the Santa Monica Pier, featuring DJs, rides, and mandatory vampire costumes.
To complement the spooky theme, Monáe has collaborated with Bacardi Rum on a new cocktail called the Rave Yard Mojito, a twist on the classic mojito with a splash of wildberry syrup. Monáe says the drink "fits right into the world I'm building" for Wonderween, which aims to bring people together through creativity and community.
