Summary
- Jane Lynch has multiple Emmy awards, including one she felt was given due to her celebrity status
- Lynch won an Emmy in 2017 for her role in the web series Dropping the Soap
- Her most meaningful Emmy win was for her role as Sue Sylvester on the TV show Glee

As of October 5th, 2025, acclaimed actress Jane Lynch has multiple Emmy awards under her belt. However, the Glee star recently revealed that she felt one of those awards was given to her primarily due to her celebrity status.
In a podcast interview, Lynch discussed her career and the Emmys she has won over the years. When asked about the award she was most proud of, she cited her first Emmy win for her role as Sue Sylvester on Glee. However, the actress admitted that she felt her 2017 win for Outstanding Actress in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series for the web series Dropping the Soap was more of a "celebrity gimme."
"I don't know that I didn't deserve it, but I think I got it because I was one of the only celebrities in these shorts," Lynch said. She speculated that Emmy voters may have overlooked some series without famous names attached. Still, the Best in Show star was grateful the award helped draw more attention to the web series.
Despite her reservations about that particular Emmy, Lynch remains proud of her body of work and the recognition it has received. In addition to her Glee and Dropping the Soap wins, she has also won Emmys for her hosting duties on Hollywood Game Night and a guest role on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
