Summary
- York Cinemas invalidated advance tickets for Jana Nayagan.
- The film's release is now expected after April 30.
- CBFC deadlock over religious sentiments stalls film release.

Canada-based York Cinemas has announced the cancellation of all advance tickets for the film Jana Nayagan, as its release is now not expected before April 30. The cinema management has advised ticket holders to ensure their refunds are processed promptly. This delay stems from an ongoing issue with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
Jana Nayagan was initially slated for a worldwide release on January 9. However, the certification process stalled in December 2025 after anonymous complaints were filed with the CBFC. These complaints alleged that the film contained scenes that could offend religious sentiments and misuse armed forces emblems.
Producers KVN Productions pursued legal channels, approaching both the Madras High Court and the Supreme Court. Despite these efforts, they withdrew their petition on February 10 to pursue resolution through the CBFC's Revising Committee instead. This marks a significant setback for the film's anticipated launch.
