Jamie Lee Curtis: "I didn't get Everything Everywhere script!"

Jamie Lee Curtis, an Oscar-winning actress, admitted in a recent interview that she did not understand the script for "Everything Everywhere All at Once" at all when she first received it. The film, which focuses on a Chinese-American immigrant laundromat owner connecting with parallel universe versions of herself while being audited, proved quite convoluted.

Curtis did, however, find her character, IRS auditor Deirdre Beaubeirdre, relatable, describing her as a woman using her job to control others due to a lack of love in her life. This role earned her a BAFTA and Golden Globe. Curtis also shared her genuine shock upon winning her Academy Award, mouthing "shut up" in disbelief, as it was an outcome she had not anticipated.

The actress also reflected on her legacy, comparing herself to her renowned actor parents, Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh. While acknowledging their accomplishments, Curtis feels she has achieved a greater sense of personal freedom, particularly through her sobriety and in choosing roles that reflect her authentic self, contrasting with the limitations she perceived her mother faced in Hollywood.
