Wyoming Musician Crafts 'Backcountry Pop' Hits

Laramie-based musician Jamie Hansen is carving out a unique niche in the music industry with her self-described genre, 'backcountry pop.' This style merges country and pop influences with deeply personal songwriting, drawing inspiration from her experiences as a part-time backcountry guide.

Since 2021, Hansen has released 13 singles, earning recognition as a Nashville Songwriters Association "One to Watch" and praise from Buzz Music. She even opened for Natasha Bedingfield in Laramie in September 2023, a performance secured despite logistical challenges.

Hansen's most recent single, 'The End,' released just last Thursday, is the first track from her upcoming debut album. She is working with Grammy-winning producer Adam Watts on the album, aiming to release a new single every two months. This project stems from a period of intense personal grief, with Hansen noting the album was written to help her survive a significant loss.

Balancing her passion for the outdoors with building an online following has been a key challenge, yet Hansen's single has already achieved thousands of saves on TikTok and listens on Spotify. She emphasizes the importance of live performances, with several shows scheduled for the upcoming summer to connect with fans.
