Watts recounted being attacked outside her New York City apartment building, with Ransone rushing to her aid after hearing her screams. He confronted the assailant, reportedly with a pipe, causing the attacker to flee and enabling the police to apprehend him.

This brave act by Ransone proved crucial, as the assailant was identified as a repeat sexual offender.
