James Marsden will headline "Disavowed," a new thriller series developed for Apple TV+. The show is based on an original concept from Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, who previously wrote "Iron Man" and "Uncharted."
Marsden portrays Brad Griffin, a CIA case officer terminated during a mission to hunt an assassin responsible for his colleague's death. Disgraced and expelled from the intelligence community, Griffin decides to claim the $15 million federal bounty placed on the assassin.
This role adds to Marsden's recent string of projects. He earned an Emmy nomination for his performance as President Cal Bradford in "Paradise" (2025) and reprised the role in Season 2 (2026). He is also featured in "Your Friends and Neighbors" Season 2 on Apple TV+. Additionally, Marsden is slated to reappear as Scott Summers/Cyclops in "Avengers: Doomsday" later in the year, marking a significant expansion of the X-Men within the MCU.
Marsden will also serve as an executive producer on "Disavowed." Apple Studios is producing the series, with Tom Spezialy, Marcum, Holloway, and Marsden as executive producers. Blue Marble Pictures, known for "Pachinko," is also involved, with Theresa Kang and Caroline Garity also executive producing. A premiere date for the spy thriller has not yet been announced.
