Summary
- Jameela Jamil criticized Blake Lively's promotional behavior.
- Text messages between Jamil and Lively's publicist were revealed.
- Jamil clarified her stance on feminism and inter-female criticism.

Jameela Jamil has broken her silence following the unsealing of court documents that revealed private text messages between her and Justin Baldoni's publicist, Jennifer Abel. These messages, exchanged in August 2024, contained criticisms of Blake Lively's conduct during the promotional cycle for the film "It Ends With Us." Jamil referred to Lively as a "bizarre villain" in the exchange.
In response to the leak, Jamil clarified her understanding of feminism via Instagram Stories. She stated that feminism's core principle is achieving political, social, and economic equity for women, emphasizing gender equity above all else. Jamil asserted that this does not mandate liking or being friends with every woman, allowing for criticism and conflict.
The exchange reportedly stemmed from an Instagram Story Lively posted in August 2024, which included domestic violence statistics alongside promotional material for "It Ends With Us." Jamil's texts indicated a negative reaction to this post, with her calling it "so cold."
Sources close to Lively expressed disappointment, suggesting it was disheartening to see women criticizing and discrediting other women in defense of a "fake male feminist." Jamil's clarification aims to address the perception that her criticism of Lively undermines her feminist stance.
