Ukulele sensation Jake Shimabukuro will release his new album, "Pop Experience," on July 10. This collection features instrumental interpretations of recent pop hits, with the first single, "Golden," already available. Shimabukuro was inspired by an animated K-pop series to explore melodies from artists such as Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo.
Shimabukuro's innovative approach involves using a looper to recreate studio multitracking in real-time during live performances. This technique allows him to layer complex arrangements, celebrating his admiration for contemporary artists. He likens this to a sports fan wearing a favorite athlete's jersey.
Additionally, Shimabukuro is deeply involved in a project with the George Harrison estate, reinterpreting about 15 of Harrison's songs. He has already recorded twelve of these tracks at Abbey Road Studios. This year also marks Shimabukuro's 50th birthday, leading him to reflect on his past with Pure Heart and express openness to a reunion.
