The sixth Jakarta Film Week is set to run from October 21-25, 2026, with the theme 'Encounters.' This year's festival aims to foster connections within the film community, building upon its six-year history of screening films and discovering new talent.
The event will open with Ang Geck Geck Priscilla's "Ah Girl" and close with the Indonesian premiere of Yosep Anggi Noen's "The Sea Speaks His Name." Audiences can anticipate a Global Feature Competition, the Currents strand, and a dedicated Direction Award section for Indonesian films.
Furthermore, the festival highlights emerging talent through the Jakarta Film Fund, offering eight short films set in the city, including three from a student partnership. JFWNET's industry programs, such as the Producers Lab and Pitching Forum, will connect local producers with international partners, supported by entities like Netflix and the Cannes Film Market.
The Jakarta Provincial Government, alongside the Jakarta Film Commission and Ministry of Culture, organizes the event. Various international cultural partners and embassies contribute to the festival's global reach, with screenings across multiple venues in Jakarta.
