Jailer's Black & White Future?

The 'Jailer' franchise has achieved blockbuster status, becoming Tamil cinema's highest-grossing film. Discussions are underway between director Nelson Dilipkumar and cinematographer Vijay Karthik Kannan regarding the potential release of a black-and-white version of the film. Kannan expressed his and Dilipkumar's long-held dream of a monochrome presentation, citing 'Spider-Noir' as a successful precedent.

While the possibility of a black-and-white version is being explored, no release date has been announced, and confirmation of its production is pending. The film 'Jailer' features Rajinikanth as a retired jailer whose son goes missing while investigating an idol-trading network. The sequel, 'Jailer 2', was released on October 15, 2026, picking up three months after the first film's events.

The 'Jailer' franchise boasts an ensemble cast including Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, and S. J. Suryah, with notable cameo appearances by actors like Mohanlal and Vijay Sethupathi. Following 'Jailer 2', Rajinikanth is slated to star in 'Dharman' and will reunite with Kamal Haasan in a new project directed by Nelson Dilipkumar.
