Jacob Lofland, recognized for his role as Cooper Norris in "Landman," also starred in the independent drama "Little Accidents." This film, directed by Sara Colangelo, delves into the consequences of a coal mining accident. The narrative was partly inspired by the 2006 Sago Mine disaster and the 2010 Upper Big Branch Mine disaster in West Virginia.
"Little Accidents" portrays the aftermath of an accident that claimed the lives of 10 miners. It features performances from Boyd Holbrook as a survivor and Elizabeth Banks as the wife of a mine supervisor. Jacob Lofland plays Owen Briggs, a teenager whose actions lead to unintended tragedy.
Director Sara Colangelo specifically sought out Lofland after seeing his performance in "Mud." Lofland, around 17 years old during filming, delivered a performance praised for its maturity. Despite mixed critical reviews, the film's performances received acclaim, marking it as an overlooked yet significant work for both Colangelo and Lofland.
