Frankenstein's Monster Comes to Life: Jacob Elordi's Astonishing Transformation

In the lead-up to the highly anticipated 2025 release of Frankenstein, actor Jacob Elordi has been making headlines for his astonishing transformation into the iconic monster. According to director Guillermo del Toro, Elordi underwent an extensive process each day of filming, involving more than 42 individual prosthetic pieces that took a full 10 hours to apply.

Far from being a grueling experience, Elordi found the process to be strangely freeing, allowing him to fully embody the character. Del Toro encouraged the young actor to see the transformation as a sacred ritual, which Elordi took very seriously. The director praised Elordi's commitment, saying he did it "all with grace and patience and love."

Elordi's dedication didn't stop at the makeup chair. The 28-year-old performer also took Japanese butoh dance classes to physically ground the Creature's movements and studied the Book of Job to emotionally anchor the performance. The result, according to del Toro, is a portrayal that is "emotionally so close to innocence it breaks your heart."

With a stellar cast that includes Oscar Isaac, Mia Goth, Christoph Waltz, and Charles Dance, Frankenstein promises to be a genre-blending exploration of what it means to be human, blending tragedy, romance, and philosophical reflection.
