Jack Nicholson, the acclaimed 89-year-old actor, has not made a film appearance in close to two decades. His longtime friend and collaborator, Michael Douglas, recently provided insight into the star's life off-screen. Douglas confirmed that Nicholson is no longer acting but is reportedly in good health.
Nicholson, who began his film career in 1958, achieved widespread recognition with his role in 'Easy Rider' in 1969. His performance in 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest' earned him his first Oscar for Best Actor, with Michael Douglas also receiving his first win as a producer for the film. Nicholson went on to win two more Academy Awards for his roles in 'Terms of Endearment' and 'As Good As It Gets'.
His last known film role was in 2010's 'How Do You Know.' While he never formally announced his retirement, Nicholson expressed in 2013 a reduced desire to be in the public eye, stating he only wished to do films that deeply moved people. His current focus seems to be on a more private existence, away from the demands of Hollywood.
