Director Imtiaz Ali has definitively stated that sequels to his acclaimed films 'Jab We Met' and 'Tamasha' are not in the works. Responding to persistent fan demand, Ali referenced the underwhelming performance of his 2020 film 'Love Aaj Kal 2' as a cautionary example. He expressed that his creative decisions are driven by inspiration rather than commercial goals. Ali specifically noted that 'Jab We Met', a film widely cherished since its 2007 release, is one he feels should remain untouched. The filmmaker also shared his broader philosophy, asserting that good movies originate from a passion for the story, not from a desire for profit.
Ali's most recent directorial venture was 'Amar Singh Chamkila', starring Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra, which premiered on April 12, 2024, and garnered positive reception. His commitment to artistic integrity over financial gain underscores his approach to filmmaking.
