During a recent tour break, Cole reflected on his early career, mentioning a specific instance where he played his song "Wet Dreamz" for Jay-Z during their initial meeting. Despite the song's potential, Jay-Z did not push for its immediate release, a decision Cole now views as crucial.

Cole believes that an earlier, potentially explosive, rise to fame would have left him unprepared for the pressures. He suggested that such premature success might have led him down a path of excessive living, diverging from his current life, which includes marriage and children, and potentially resulting in a career fade-out.
