J. Cole shared details about his album 'The Fall-Off,' revealing that Kendrick Lamar's featured verses were ultimately excluded. Cole stated that the album was finished and leaked, with Kendrick originally slated for two tracks. Despite the album's release in February 2024, Kendrick was absent.
Cole explained that he felt a surge of creative energy after the events surrounding Kendrick's March 2024 verse on "Like That." However, he also noted that this timing was inconvenient as he had just finished touring with Drake and had his own project, 'Might Delete Later,' ready.
This led to Cole releasing "7 Minute Drill," a diss track aimed at Kendrick. He later removed the song from streaming services and publicly apologized to Kendrick Lamar at the Dreamville Festival in April 2024. This series of events paved the way for the widely anticipated rap battle between Drake and Kendrick Lamar later that month.
