The highly anticipated sequel to the 2021 martial arts film "Ip Man: Kung Fu Master" has secured distribution deals in multiple territories ahead of its scheduled January 2026 release in China. The new installment, titled "Ip Man: Kung Fu Legend," is currently in post-production and has already secured North American rights with Well Go USA, as well as distribution deals in Germany, Turkey, Russia, and Indonesia.
The project marks the return of director Li Liming, who helmed the previous film. Starring Dennis To as the iconic Wing Chun grandmaster Ip Man, who trained Bruce Lee, the sequel will continue the story of this legendary figure. To has portrayed the character multiple times, including in the films "Ip Man: The Legend is Born" and "Kung Fu League."
The cast also features several other notable actors, such as Zhou Xiaofei, who has appeared in films like "The Grandmaster" and "Ip Man 4: The Finale," as well as Steven Dasz, known for his roles in "Chinese Zodiac" and "The Wandering Earth 3." The action sequences are being choreographed by Sun Fei, who has experience in films like "Warriors of Heaven and Earth" and "Ip Man: Kung Fu Master."
With the original "Ip Man" franchise becoming one of the most iconic martial arts film series of the 21st century, the upcoming sequel is poised to continue the legacy and captivate audiences worldwide.
