Australian rock band INXS has officially been nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2026. This nomination arrives 21 years after the band first became eligible for consideration.
Bassist Garry Gary Beers expressed pride in the nomination, acknowledging the esteemed company of other nominees. Formed in 1977, INXS achieved significant global success, selling over 50 million records and securing multiple top 20 albums on the Billboard 200, including the No. 1 hit "Need You Tonight."
In the UK, the band earned six top 10 albums and a BRIT Award. INXS was also inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in Australia in 2001. The band performed their final concert in 2012.
Despite the tragic passing of frontman Michael Hutchence in 1997, INXS's music endures. Their 1987 song "Never Tear Us Apart" was recently named the greatest Australian song of all time. INXS is one of 10 first-time nominees on the 2026 ballot.
