The "Insidious" horror franchise is expanding with its sixth installment, "Insidious: Out of the Further," scheduled for release in U.S. theaters on August 21, 2026. This new film follows the events of "Insidious: The Red Door," which was released in 2023. The franchise, which began with James Wan's directorial debut in the series, has historically performed well at the box office.
Collectively, the "Insidious" films have achieved a worldwide gross of $731.5 million. The upcoming sequel aims to bridge the gap and potentially surpass the $1 billion worldwide milestone. While "Insidious: The Red Door" is the highest-grossing film in the series, it did not yield the best return on investment.
Analysis reveals that the first "Insidious" film delivered an exceptional return, generating over 66 times its budget. The second film followed with a return of 32.4 times its budget. "Insidious: Out of the Further" will be evaluated to see how its box office performance compares to its budget and its place within the franchise's financial history.
