9 Nov
Summary
- Orry used a derogatory slur for transgender people in an Instagram video
- The video sparked massive outrage and criticism from social media users
- Orry has faced previous controversies for insensitive comments about public figures

On November 9th, 2025, popular internet personality Orhan Awatramani, known as Orry, found himself at the center of a new controversy. Orry, who is known for his quirky social media presence and glamorous friend circle, landed in hot water after he used a casteist and transphobic slur in an Instagram video.
The clip, which has since been deleted, showed two transgender women, reportedly actors, playfully fighting on a reality show. Orry's caption for the video sparked outrage online, as he referred to the women using the derogatory term "chakka," a slur commonly used to demean the transgender community.
Social media users were quick to slam Orry for his insensitive and mocking behavior. One user wrote, "This is EMBARRASSING, Orry! Using a slur that's used daily to demean a community is LOW." Another commented, "When you benefit from queer culture and then mock it - that's hypocrisy at its peak."
This is not the first time Orry has found himself at the center of controversy. In October, he faced criticism for making disparaging remarks about singers Falguni Pathak and Lata Mangeshkar. He also took a dig at 'Bigg Boss 15' contestant Rajiv Adatia, who hit back at Orry's comments.
Despite the repeated backlash, Orry continues to remain a popular figure on social media, often seen at Bollywood events and parties alongside celebrities like Janhvi Kapoor, Ananya Panday, and Khushi Kapoor. However, his latest incident has once again highlighted the need for greater sensitivity and awareness when it comes to marginalized communities.
