- The film follows agent Robert Mazur's undercover operation against Pablo Escobar.
- It underperformed at the box office possibly due to similarities with Narcos.
Bryan Cranston leads the cast of the 2016 biographical crime drama, The Infiltrator. The film chronicles the true story of United States Customs Service Special Agent Robert Mazur, portrayed by Cranston, as he goes undercover to dismantle drug kingpin Pablo Escobar's operation. Despite a strong supporting cast including Diane Kruger and Amy Ryan, the movie failed to recoup its budget.
The movie's narrative focuses on Mazur's infiltration of Escobar's inner circle. Critics have noted Cranston's performance, drawing parallels to his iconic Breaking Bad role where he played a drug lord. However, The Infiltrator's plot, centering on taking down Escobar, bears resemblance to the Netflix series Narcos. This similarity may have contributed to its limited box office success.
