Indira Varma is set to captivate audiences once more in the third season of the BBC's acclaimed surveillance thriller, 'The Capture.' Varma portrays BBC journalist Khadija Khan, sharing the screen with lead actress Holliday Grainger, who plays Detective Rachel Carey.
Varma, an Olivier award recipient, boasts a versatile career, recently appearing in ITV's 'Coldwater' and the BBC's 'The Night Manager.' Her earlier notable roles include appearances in 'Game of Thrones,' 'Patrick Melrose,' and 'Obsession.'
Interestingly, Varma's husband, Colin Tierney, is also a recognized actor. He is known for his roles as CS Gerry Rydell in 'DCI Banks' and Ronan Truman in 'Coronation Street,' among numerous other television credits.
The couple's relationship began in 1997 when they met during a global tour of the National Theatre's production of 'Othello.' They eventually settled in London, where they currently reside with their teenage daughter, Evelyn, born in 2007.
Varma, who grew up in Bath with Indian and Swiss heritage, has spoken about experiencing mild racism during her childhood. She attended Bath's Musical Youth Theatre alongside Andrew Lincoln, with whom she later worked on ITV's 'Coldwater.' After graduating from Rada, Varma launched her acting career with the 1996 film 'Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love,' paving the way for a string of diverse roles across film and television.
