Indie Singer Taba Chake Blends Rustic and Modern to Represent Arunachal Pradesh

As of October 16th, 2025, indie singer-songwriter Taba Chake stands out as an artist who lets authenticity lead the way. Hailing from Arunachal Pradesh, Chake has crafted a niche with his soulful melodies, poetic lyrics, and deep connection to his cultural roots.

In his role as the Brand Ambassador for Art and Culture in Arunachal Pradesh, Chake takes immense pride in representing his homeland wherever he performs. "I carry my culture wherever I go," he said, noting that artists from the North East have a distinct texture in their voices, blending the rustic with the modern.

To maintain this creative balance, Chake has built a unique rhythm for himself. Before writing a new album, he takes a 6-8 month break, completely eliminating music from his system. "I spend time in the countryside or my village, doing things that have nothing to do with art or music. That makes me feel grounded, and when I return, I come back with fresh perspectives," he explained.

Chake also spoke about the legacy of Zubeen Garg, another North East artist who inspired an entire generation. "Zubeen da's music touched people across industries and languages, and he did a lot for the community," said Chake, acknowledging the impact Garg had on the regional music scene.
