Indie Director Thamar Sarkeet's Work Earns Spot in IFFI Competition

In a significant achievement, indie director Thamar Sarkeet's film has been selected for the prestigious International Competition section at the 2025 International Film Festival of India (IFFI). The film is one of only three Indian entries to make it to the competition category, which also includes works by acclaimed directors like Fatih Akin, Takashi Miike, and Diane Kurys.

Sarkeet, who is both the director and producer of the film, expressed his delight at the selection, stating that he is "very happy" about the recognition. Initially, the team thought the film had only been chosen for the Panorama section, but were pleasantly surprised to learn it had made it to the competitive category.

Despite receiving positive reviews from critics and audiences when it was released in theaters, the film struggled at the box office due to competition from several big-budget releases at the time. However, Sarkeet shares that the film gained more appreciation after its OTT release, with viewers discussing the various scenes and details in depth.

Now, with the IFFI selection, Sarkeet feels that the film's journey has come "full circle," as there is no bigger stage for Indian cinema than the prestigious festival. The entire team, including actors Asikka, Divya Prabha, and Deepak, will be attending the festival to support the film's entry in the International Competition.
