Colin Jost and Danny Chun, who previously collaborated at the Harvard Lampoon, have unveiled a new independent comedy series titled "6 Bed 1 Bath." This sitcom bypasses the traditional Hollywood studio system, financed instead through strategic brand partnerships facilitated by Revue Studios. The series narrative revolves around five individuals in their twenties sharing an apartment with a long-term tenant who has incrementally added bedrooms since 1982.
The production recently concluded in New York City. "6 Bed 1 Bath" will premiere on free, ad-supported video-on-demand platforms, including Tubi, Pluto TV, and The Roku Channel. This independent production model allowed Jost and Chun to maintain complete creative control over their project.
Jost, a "Saturday Night Live" co-anchor for "Weekend Update," expressed the desire to create a show they found humorous, noting the difficulty in achieving this within conventional channels. Chun, a writer with experience on "The Simpsons" and "The Office," highlighted the innovative approach taken. The series boasts an ensemble cast including Jost, Scarlett Johansson, and Chun among its executive producers.
