Independent filmmakers can now leverage the WAVES OTT platform, where their work will be compensated on a pay-per-view basis, as announced by Union information and broadcasting secretary Sanjay Jaju. This initiative aims to provide new avenues for content creators.
Speaking alongside actor Aamir Khan, Jaju highlighted government efforts to improve cinema infrastructure. He revealed that model state regulations have been established to streamline the process of building new cinema halls. These regulations are designed to expedite approvals, with permits for construction expected within 90 days and operational permissions within 30 days.
Khan had previously suggested that upgrading cinema hall facilities nationwide would significantly elevate India's status as a filmmaking nation. Jaju's announcement directly addresses this by simplifying the regulatory environment, potentially revitalizing regional cinema and boosting the overall film industry's growth and reach.
