Rory Feek's 12-year-old daughter, Indiana, faced a frightening health crisis recently when she was life-flighted to a hospital. The incident occurred after she woke up feeling unwell, exhibiting symptoms that her parents initially mistook for the stomach flu.
Her condition rapidly worsened, leading to a frantic call to emergency services and a life-saving helicopter transport to a medical center. Doctors determined that fluid had accumulated around Indiana's heart, a complication stemming from her recent open-heart surgery. This fluid buildup was constricting her heart's ability to function properly.
Following a second surgery to drain the excess fluid, which amounted to 610 ccs, Indiana's condition stabilized. Doctors reported that the fluid had caused her heart to swell to twice its normal size. Fortunately, her heart rate normalized post-procedure, and she has since been recovering well, with her father expressing confidence in her full recovery.
