Stamp Hobbyist Takes Faith to Bali International Stage

Poornima Janardhan Kodavoor, an employee of the Indian Postal Department, has elevated her childhood passion for stamp collecting into an internationally recognized art form. Her latest collection, focusing on Hindu deities, has been selected for the prestigious 17th Baliplex-2025 international philately exhibition in Bali, Indonesia. This significant achievement will allow Kodavoor to represent India on a global platform, demonstrating the narrative power of postage stamps in conveying faith, culture, and history.

Beginning her systematic stamp collection in school, Kodavoor's dedication intensified after joining the postal department. Driven by a desire for unique achievements, she expanded her philatelic endeavors beyond traditional displays. Her acclaimed exhibitions, such as 'Kunchadolage Bereta Anche Chiti' and 'The Wonder of Postage Stamps,' are noted for their visual richness and innovative concepts. A pioneering aspect of her work is the integration of poetic expression with stamp presentations, creating a distinctive artistic fusion.

Kodavoor's innovative curatorial skills have garnered formal recognition, including state-level bronze medals and a divisional gold medal for her themed exhibitions. She has even authored a book, 'Tribhasha Torana,' which merges linguistic elements with philatelic art. With the support of her family and colleagues, and inspired by fellow philatelists, Poornima continues to foster a love for stamps by establishing the Bhama Philately Gallery at her residence.
