Indian Short Film 'Gudgudi' Shines at Cannes 2026

Manisha Makwana's directorial debut, the short film 'Gudgudi,' is slated for screening at the 79th Cannes Film Festival in 2026. It will be showcased under the Marché du Film segment, scheduled from May 12 to May 23, 2026. This selection represents a significant achievement for Makwana, who has spent nearly a decade working on productions like 'The Family Man' and 'Farzi.'

The film, starring Ahsaas Channa, is co-produced by casting director Mukesh Chhabra. Chhabra described 'Gudgudi' as a 'heart-touching story' and expressed excitement about the collaboration between Makwana and Channa. Channa herself shared that the film originates from a personal space and that seeing it reach an international platform like Cannes is a surreal experience.

Ahsaas Channa, who plays a lead role, conveyed her excitement about her first film premiering at Cannes, calling it a long-cherished dream come true. 'Gudgudi' is produced by Harshvardhan Patel under White Peacock Films and distributed by Crewbella.
