Independent Film Studio Mubi Announces Key Leadership Changes

Independent film studio Mubi is implementing substantial changes within its content division leadership, preparing for the upcoming 2026 market. Chief Content Officer Jason Ropell has received an unspecified promotion and will collaborate with founder Efe Cakarel on the company's overall corporate strategy. This move involves integrating Mubi's streaming service, theatrical distribution, and film production arms more closely.
Arianna Bocco, who joined Mubi earlier in 2025, is set to take the helm of the film's distribution and acquisition departments. Concurrently, Michael Weber will assume the global production head role, with The Match Factory's team being fully absorbed into Mubi. These shifts are accompanied by the departure of approximately a dozen Mubi employees, including former co-chief of acquisitions Kevin Chan.
