Actor Imran Khan has addressed the persistent debate surrounding nepotism in the Indian film industry. He shared that upon his debut, discussions about privilege were already prevalent, noting that such conversations have long been a feature of the industry, which often operates as a family business.

Khan suggested that the audience's focus ultimately rests on the quality of an artist's output. He pointed out that skilled individuals from film families, such as Farhan Akhtar, Zoya Akhtar, and Hrithik Roshan, are widely recognized for their talent without controversy.

He highlighted Ranbir Kapoor as a prime example, whose acclaimed acting prowess overshadows his privileged background. Khan stated that criticism arises when the quality of work is perceived as poor, emphasizing that talent and merit are the true determinants of acceptance in the long run.

The actor also attributed the heightened intensity of the nepotism discourse to the significantly expanded media landscape.
