In 2022, the Finnish thriller Sisu became a sleeper hit, captivating audiences with its over-the-top action and violence. Now, just three years later, the highly anticipated sequel Sisu 2: Road to Revenge is set to hit theaters.
The film once again follows the exploits of Aatami Korpi, a Finnish soldier who seemingly cannot be killed. After surviving an entire SS platoon, a grenade explosion, his own hanging, a plane crash, and countless other near-death experiences in the first film, Korpi has returned home to Soviet-occupied Karelia, where his family was brutally murdered during World War II.
Refusing to live under Soviet rule, Korpi decides to dismantle his family's home and transport the wooden beams to a safe location, where he can rebuild it in honor of his loved ones. However, this simple act of defiance quickly draws the attention of the Red Army, who release the man responsible for Korpi's family's death from prison and task him with the impossible mission of killing the famous ex-soldier.
What follows is a bloody, slapstick-infused battle of wits and wills, as Korpi uses every trick in the book to evade his relentless pursuers. From strapping himself to a rocket to navigating a train car filled with sleeping Red Army soldiers, the film promises even more over-the-top action and violence than the first Sisu. But at its heart, it remains a deeply personal story of a man driven by an unbreakable will to honor his family's memory.
