- Documentary premieres October 12 on major streaming platforms.
- Film inspired by director's cousin's fear of dying at work.

Filmmaker Aneri Shah's directorial debut, "I'm Doing My Job," premieres October 12, offering a look into the lives of six South Asian and African American female emergency physicians. The 50-minute documentary chronicles their experiences as they managed the COVID-19 pandemic while simultaneously fulfilling roles as mothers, caregivers, and leaders.
The film's origins trace back to 2020 when Shah's cousin, an ER physician, was advised to prepare a will. This personal experience, coupled with outreach from other women physicians, inspired Shah to expand the project into a feature-length documentary.
"I'm Doing My Job" showcases the overlapping responsibilities these women carried, moving between the emergency room and their homes. The documentary is distributed by Monkey Wrench Films and will be available on Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, Google Play, YouTube Movies, and Vimeo On Demand, with further releases on Tubi and other services later this fall.
Director Shah aims to highlight the vulnerabilities and strength of women of color and immigrant daughters, framing their stories as a testament to empathic leadership. The film features an original score by Grammy-nominated composer Priya Darshini.
